Sir John Eliot Gardiner established the Monteverdi Choir in 1964 and on 5 March that year, they performed their first concert.

Fifty years later, Gardiner is back at the helm of his choir to conduct a 50th Anniversary concert from King’s College, Cambridge.

Tonight the choir perform Monteverdi’s 1610 Vespers as they did in that first concert. For this celebratory evening the choir is joined by the English Baroque Soloists and the choristers of King’s College Chapel. The chorus welcomes soloists Silvia Frigato and Emanuela Galli (sopranos), and Nicholas Mulroy and Krystian Adam (tenors).
