A ballet based on the short story of Alphonse Daudet, L’Arlésienne is a tale of unrequited but lasting love.

Frederic prepares for an engagement to a beautiful woman from Arles, but finds out that she is the mistress of another man. Distraught, he seeks comfort in the arms of a childhood sweetheart, herself madly in love with him. But none of her devotion can save him from his heartbroken obsession with the woman from Arles and the story ends with a tragic death.

The production is set against a Van Gogh-inspired landscape and demonstrates how well Petit's choreography is mapped by Bizet’s score.
