Plácido Domingo sings the title role for the first time
Radio 3 continues its Verdi 200 season with a broadcast – recorded last month – of the great Italian composer’s opera. Plácido Domingo sings the title baritone role for the first time anywhere in the world in a cast which also includes soprano Liudmyla Monastryka and bass Vitalij Kowaljow.
The opera tells the biblical story of Nebuchadnezzar, King of the Babylonians, and contains one of Verdi’s most famous pieces of music, the ‘Va Pensiero’ chorus.
Nicola Luisotti conducts the orchestra and chorus of the Royal Opera House. Visit the Radio 3 website for more information.
