The Newbury Symphony Orchestra will be performing a family concert as part of the Newbury Spring Festival, suitable for ages 5+. Poulenc's The Story of Babar the Elephant, narrated by Chris de Souza, as well as short pieces written by Britten and Brahms make for an exciting children's introduction to the world of the orchestra.

Mishka Rushdie Momen (born 1992) is a postgraduate scholar and student of Joan Havill at the Guildhall School, where she previously also studied for 5 years with Imogen Cooper as her only student. Her competition successes include the Tillett Trust Young Artist Platform Scheme 2012-13, the Kenneth Loveland Gift 2012, and First Prize in the Norah Sande Award 2012.
Last season Mishka gave recitals at the Barbican Hall for the pre-LSO seies, Wigmore Hall for the Tillett Trust Monday Platform, and the Bridgewater Hall. Forthcoming venues include Cardiff University and The Venue, leeds.
Her concert expereince includes most of the major London venues as well as abroad in new York, Weimar, Prague , Mumbai and Cologne.
This recital is presented by The Chopin Society UK. Mishka last played for us at Brown's Hotel in Mayfair as part of our Chopin Bicentenary celebrations in 2010, when she appeared on the Andrew Marr Show (BBC1) with our President, Lady Rose Cholmondeley, to publicise our concerts.

Join us for a night of classical music with the Kreutzer Quartet, featuring music from Beethoven, Boccherini, and the world premiere of Dale Roberts's Quintet.
The members of the pioneering Kreutzer Quartet are the dedicatee of countless new works by composers including Michael Finnissy, David Matthews, Judith Weir, Judith Bingham, Poul Ruders, Robert Saxton, Jorg Widmann, Hans Werner Henze, George Rochberg, and many others. The quartet have recorded cycles of works by Matthews, Elliott Schwartz, Michael Tippett, Roberto Gerhard and Jeremy Dale Roberts, to name just a few. Although the quartet is in demand at major festivals from the Venice Biennale to the Bergen Festpillerne, Wilton's Music Hall is the heart of their activity. Over the past few years they have relished the opportunity to work in its wonderful acoustic and to develop and uniquely lively relationship with the audience there, and have developed an eclectic programming style in response to this unique venue.

Inspired by the Mad Hatter’s tea party from Alice in Wonderland, Ensemble 360 and Polly Ives present a concert of live music, curious rhymes, nonsense and lots of laughs.
Join in with a tea pot dance, solve the Queen of Hearts’ riddles alongside Paul Patterson’s Comedy for Five Winds, and sing the White Rabbit’s song and Mock Turtle’s Lament. Hear Benjamin Britten’s Two Insect Pieces, Martin Butler’s The Pig from Dirty Beasts by Roald Dahl, extracts from Charlie Piper’s Jacaranda and Haydn’s Surprise Symphony.
