Wed, 2013-06-26 19:30Limelight classical club night, with Charlie Siem, Raven and Chris HopkinsCharlie Siem, Chris Hopkins, Raven100 Club London W1United Kingdom
Following an explosive start to the season, with Thomas Gould and Amore's stunning performances in April, Limelight is delighted to welcome back one of its favourite veteran artists: the inimitable Charlie Siem.
Siem, who performed at Limelight's second ever concert back in 2009, is returning to the 100 Club stage by popular demand. Passionate and intense, the youngster's unique combination of musical talent and sartorial elegance has propelled him into the spotlight across the world - and we are extremely lucky he has found room in his busy schedule to perform for us again.
Siem will be supported by pianist Chris Hopkins, a rising star whose performance with Gould in April received a rapturous response, and feisty rock string quartet Raven, the resident "s**t hot" group on the BBC's former hit show Maestro (in the words of comedian Sue Perkins).

Sat, 2013-06-22 19:30Now is the Gentle Season: An evening of English madrigals and verseAlison Hawke, Camden Chamber Choir, Peter Lea-Cox, Ruth PadelThe Parish Church of St Mary-the-Virgin, Primrose Hill London NW3 3DJUnited Kingdom
Camden Chamber Choir invite you to an evening of music and verse from England's Elizabethan and Jacobean Ages. This was the great era of the English madrigal, whose masters Morley and Weelkes harmonised songs of Love, Nature and Regret. The choir will offer a rich and respresentative sample from them and their contemporaries. But it was also a triumph of poetics, so poet Ruth Padel will read from the timeless words of Donne, Jonson, Marlowe, Middleton, Raleigh and Shakespeare, amongst others.
The choir's fluent soprano Alison Hawke wil add to this heady mixture two solo sets, one from Robert Jones's 'The Muses Gardin for Delights' ('Love, love is a pretty frenzy' and 'Soft, cupid, soft, there is no haste'); the second from Thomas Campion's 'Two Bookes of Ayres' (the famous 'Never weather-beaten Saile' and "Though your strangeness frets my heart').
We hope for a balmy English summer evening to match our music and verse, and extend a warm invitation for you to join us.

Having been on tour to Hamburg earlier this year, the Harlequin Singers are now very much looking forward to this lovely concert full of summer music! It will be featuring a wide range of choral music, including pieces by Whitacre, Stanford, and even UB40. We will also be performing a few select movements from Handel's Dixit Dominus which we performed with the Due Quartetti orchestra in Hamburg.
The concert will be raising funds for our venue, St James Priory, who do great work in the local community, including providing residential accommodation and support for people in recovery from addiction. Further details are available on their website.
The building itself is the oldest building in Bristol, and its light and beautiful interior will be a lovely setting for the concert. It is located close to the St. James Barton roundabout next to the bus station.
The Harlequin Singers are a Bristol-based choir who perform several concerts a year supporting local charities. Although we don't take ourselves too seriously, we still strive to achieve a high quality of performance, and we are well known for our diverse programmes that really do have something for everyone.
