Works by Johann Bernhard Bach, Charles Dieupart, Johann Ernst Prinz von Sachsen-Weimar, Francesco Bonporti, Antonio Vivaldi and Johann Sebastian Bach himself are played with conviction and flair by the period instrument ensemble from Freiburg.

    David Owen Norris – The World’s first Piano Concertos

    Accompanied by three members of Ensemble Musica Poetica Freiburg, the eminent pianist, composer, broadcaster and musicologist performs the earliest piano concertos on his own square piano, made in 1781, in the historic wood mill at Gayle, which opened in 1784. Professor Norris will explain the particular features of the square piano during the concert.

    The Sixteen - Choral Pilgrimage

    In 2013 world-renowned choir The Sixteen will present its most far-reaching Choral Pilgrimage tour yet, encompassing 34 concerts around the UK. The tour, entitled The Queen of Heaven, will see Harry Christophers CBE and his choir perform glorious music in churches and cathedrals for which it was written. This will be a ‘must-hear’ event where the group will take you through the musical evolution of the Allegri’s legendary and much-requested Miserere. The programme also features stunning music by the ‘Prince of Music’ Palestrina, as well another brilliant yet contrasting setting of the Miserere by James Macmillan.
