Russian soprano Aida Garifullina rose to fame in 2013 following her victory at Operalia, The World Opera Competition, which has also played a part in launching the careers of Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja and US mezzo Joyce DiDonato.

Since then, she has performed at the Vienna State Opera and Wigmore Hall among many other leading venues. She has also been in a number of productions at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg following her 2013 debut as Susanna in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.

Garifullina has a recording contract with Decca Records, with whom she released her debut album in February 2017, which features 15 arias recorded with the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Cornelius Meister.

To coincide with her World Cup performance, she is releasing a new three-track digital EP with Decca entitled Midnight in Moscow.

Aida Garifullina will duet with popstar Robbie Williams at the opening ceremony of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Moscow this afternoon. It is so far unknown what they will sing together.
