With the BBC Music Magazine Awards 2011 now open for voting, we’ll be offering a weekly podcast exploring the nominations in each category.
In this first instalment, which you can listen to on this page, editor Oliver Condy is joined by reviews editor Daniel Jaffé and chair of the Awards jury Helen Wallace to chat about the discs in the vocal category.
This year the nominations feature three very different recordings, including Schubert’s Die Winterreise, a programme of verismo arias, and Wolf’s Italian Songbook.
To let us know which disc you think should win a coveted Award this April, cast your vote now!
