Bargiel

As half-brother to Clara Schumann, Woldemar Bargiel could hardly avoid pledging his loyalty to the conservative wing of German Romanticism. Nonetheless, these two works, superbly played by the Trio Parnassus, are by no means pale imitations of Schumann or Brahms, and display a quiet originality, particularly in their scherzos. An extremely enjoyable release. Erik Levi
