Jadin/Vachon

These are utilitarian, though by no means charmless works, by two obscure French composers active in the late 18th century. The Rasumovsky Quartet gives dull, stylistically ambivalent accounts of quartets by Pierre Vachon (whose galant chamber works, notably his many Quatuors concertants, were once held in high esteem), and by the short-lived French Classicist Hyacinthe Jadin. Interesting as antiquaria, though I doubt that they’ll change your life; far less so in these limp and uninspiring performances. Michael Jameson
