Bentzon

These three piano sonatas by the prolific, 80-year-old Danish composer Niels Viggo Bentzon cover the period 1946-65. Their broadly expressive and, even in the more atonal Ninth Sonata, essentially thematic manner soon palls, despite the determined advocacy of the Argentinian-Danish pianist Rudolfo Llambías. The recording has little finesse. Keith Potter
