While there’s no doubt that the Sonatinas of Clementi, Beethoven and Diabelli are admirable teaching pieces, they hardly constitute sufficiently substantial fare for an entire CD. Blumenthal performs sensitively enough, but his efforts would have been better channelled in less ephemeral repertoire. Erik Levi
