Jadin: Piano Sonata No. 1; Piano Sonata No. 2; Piano Sonata No. 3

Hyacinthe Jadin (1769-1802), along with his more famous brother Louis Emmanuel, was among the first French composers to write specifically for the piano, and in these sonatas he seems to be testing some of the instrument’s dynamic and lyrical possibilities (there are some effective crescendos). The pieces adhere to Classical sonata form, with great charm and simplicity, but are distinguished by an emotional expressiveness, which Wang emphasises, sometimes at the expense of clarity.
