Moeran: Complete Piano Works

Moeran’s piano music is indebted to that of John Ireland, though the style remains his own. Eric Parkin, who previously recorded this repertoire 25 years ago, is noted for his Ireland interpretations. He is an ideal exponent of Moeran too, for the music is always beautifully shaped and phrased. With one exception – the Theme and Variations – the pieces are miniatures, though there is no lack of substance, as well as atmosphere in abundance. Recommended. Terry Barfoot
