Weiss was one of the 18th century’s greatest lutenists and was an idiomatic, imaginative composer for the instrument. Kurt Schneeweiss has arranged the music for his instrument, the guitar but, in so doing, has sacrificed its unique expressive subtlety and lost sight of an apposite performing style.
