Krommer: E flat Quintet

‘In Vienna,’ the blurb tells us, Krommer’s ‘chamber music was regularly considered equal to Haydn’s or Beethoven’s.’ If posterity has not exactly endorsed this opinion, his music is at least pleasant and tidily made – and in the Andante of the E flat Quintet a little more than that. Roger Nichols.
