Rameau Chopin Scriabin Beethoven Liszt Mendelssohn Tchaikovsky

There are two sharply contrasting solo piano recitals. That most mischevious of pianists, Shura Cherkassky, behaved himself at Aldeburgh in 1974, only really letting fly outrageously in Liszt's Reminiscences of Don Juan, which goes way over the top just as Liszt would have loved. Otherwise a programme from Beethoven through Mendelssohn to Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Scriabin shows how serious and many-sided an artists could be.
