Stanford: Requiem

Stanford’s 1896 Requiem is a work of beauty, with many strokes of imagination in wordsetting and scoring. Adrian Leaper’s well-paced performance, with an acceptable solo quartet, a soft-grained chorus and an excellent orchestra, and well recorded, is a welcome transfer from Marco Polo to its budget stable-mate.
