Pergolesi/Galuppi/Pescetti

To judge both from the over-resonant, rough analogue recording and the thinnish sound of the string playing, this recording of La serva padrona was made some while ago. But there’s no hint in the packaging about the date of its provenance. It’s a lively, entertaining account, without being particularly distinguished. The Salve regina, with Bowman and the King’s Consort, makes the disc something of a chalk and cheese affair. Stephen Pettitt
