Puccini: La Bohème

As, I imagined, would Solti’s La Bohème. But here the cut and thrust seem pushed, the edges rough, and the lead singers – wonderful artists both – not quite in their element: Caballé’s Mimì is too mannered and artistic to tell the simple truth, and Domingo is not your ideal top C man for the crucial aria, though immensely sympathetic as always.
