De Boeck

Here are a symphony, a violin concerto and a rhapsody, any of which could pass as a lesser-known work by a variety of better-known composers, particularly members of the Russian ‘Five’ and a number of British composers such as Elgar and Parry. This is also the problem, however, since de Boeck falls some way short of the individual voice which would justify a tag of ‘unduly neglected’. Nevertheless, these are enjoyable curiosities and performances are excellent throughout. Christopher Dingle
