Svendsen: Symphony No. 1 in D; Symphony No. 2 in B flat; Polonaise No. 2 in D

It was after hearing Svendsen’s exhilarating and delightful D major Symphony that Grieg withdrew his own. Both the Svendsen symphonies have warmth and infectious high spirits as well as a keen originality. Thomas Dausgaard and his Danish Radio forces give exemplary accounts of them. Strongly recommended, Robert Layton
