This somewhat arbitrary collection provides a useful reminder of changes in Bach performance practice over the last four decades in both Britain and Germany. Gönnenwein’s performances of Nos 80, 106 and 140 are surprisingly nimble in faster movements, though he’s not blessed with a very robust choir.
