Bach/Vivaldi: Concerto for Two Violins BWV 1043; Concerto for Three Violins BWV 1064

Menuhin's suppleness and flair are the more amazing for this being a fairly recent recording. Its zestful, traditional approach never flags, with a well-pointed, chuntering, though never over-fussy, accompaniment. In the famous Bach Double Violin Concerto, Menuhin and Lysy effortlessly match each other. The transcribed Bach Triple Concerto, with its pleading Adagio, will give pleasure to many. A cello adds contrast to one of the Vivaldi concertos; all three Largos are enchanting. A delightful hour of music to have and keep at home. Roderic Dunnett
