Bruckner: Symphony No. 7 in E

Masur, a formidable interpreter of Bruckner’s music, chose the mighty Seventh for his inaugural concert as music director of the New York PO in September 1991, and this splendid disc is a record of that event. He has the full measure of Brucknerian architecture, building climaxes and terracing orchestral colour with perception and skill. His players rise to the occasion, responding with both sensitivity and commitment.
