Fauré: Piano Works

Anyone who doubts the importance of Fauré’s contribution to the piano repertoire should have a listen to this pair of discs from Kathryn Stott. Originally released as two separate recitals, Stott presents an intelligent and quite generous selection of works covering every form used by Fauré for the instrument. She displays a wonderful affinity for these inimitable pieces, with her natural feeling for rubato forming the key to interpretations which are thoughtful and yet seemingly intuitive.

Tempi are occasionally a bit too leisurely, but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise immensely enjoyable disc. Recommended.
