Honegger’s Concertino for Piano and Orchestra is a most attractive composition, offering wit and charm in equal measure. Klien’s performance is nicely idiomatic, while Hollreiser is a sympathetic conductor. It is a pity, then, that the recorded sound is thin, with rather scratchy strings. The sound quality for the solo compositions is better, and there is no doubting the commitment of Vintschger’s playing. His selection makes a welcome return to the catalogue, enhancing our awareness of this great composer’s achievement. Terry Barfoot
