A veritable treasure trove of wonderful chamber music-making. Grumiaux and his colleagues deliver elegant yet highly expressive accounts of the last three string quintets that still lead the field in this particular repertoire. Equally satisfying are the charming Adagio and Rondo for glass harmonica, and Brymer’s mellifluous playing in the Clarinet Quintet, an account from 1970 which wears its years remarkably well.
