This is a wonderfully exciting performance of Belshazzar’s Feast from Richard Hickox and the LSO in spectacular sound. David Wilson-Johnson is a splendidly dark-toned Herald of Doom. A little quibble – the feast scene, in parts, might have been a shade tighter, thus boosting the voltage even more. The chorus is magnificent, especially in the lusty, vigorous and relentlessly fast-paced In Honour of the City of London, celebrating the capital’s glory in Elizabethan days. Ian Lace
