Charbel Rouhana – Hand Made

We don’t hear much Lebanese music in the West, but Charbel Rouhana and The Beirut Oriental Ensemble's charming, understated instrumental album Hand Made nicely complements Titi Robin’s.

This modest series of pieces led by oud, buzuk and violin, with bass and percussion doesn’t offer much in the way of memorable melodies but it does have an undemanding and largely contemplative ambience. Jon Lusk
