Debbo Hande

Senegalese music is at the heart of Suuf, an eclectic UK-based collaboration that sounds more as though the smooth singing and laid-back band are plugged into a separate studio job.

The justification for ‘creative’ overlays of electric guitar, piano and programmed sound has to be that they are exciting, whereas the results are on the bland side and limit the range of feeling. Three fine vocalists each take their turn, and it would be good to hear them set free. Meanwhile, the fewer add-ons the better.
