With his squat figure and large round face, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan looks like a contented god whom the camera courts for wise counsel, and this disc is certainly the most enlightening of the six.
A master of qawwali - the sufi chanting, or 'art of spreading sacred words', Khan here has amazing vocal control and is also a great improviser. The fact that his extended concert is audio-only hardly disappointed after such an absorbing portrait.
