The Arcadian Serenaders: The Complete Sets 1924-5

The Arcadian Serenaders: The Complete Sets 1924-5

It’s an anomaly of jazz history that very little recording was done in New Orleans during the music’s infancy. These bands were among the few. Cornettist De Droit led a tough little septet and played a useful lead horn.

The Jazzers/Serenaders (basically the same group) feature the first appearances of Wingy Manone. Ancient history, but enjoyably high-spirited jinks from young guys discovering this new music. RC
