Mei Yi Foo was named Newcomer of the Year at this year's BBC Music Magazine Awards. The Malaysian pianist's playful debut disc (Odradek Records), Musical Toys, featured music by Gubaidulina and Ligeti, as well as Unsuk Chin's Six Piano Etudes, recorded for the first time. In this video, filmed several years ago, Foo performs the fifth Etude, Toccata.
