András Schiff and Susan Bullock among those honoured in the Queen's Birthday list

Musicians are well represented among the Honours

Pianist András Schiff, soprano Susan Bullock, and artistic director of the English National Opera John Berry are amongst those recognised in the 2014 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to Music.

Schiff received a knighthood, whilst Bullock and Berry were both awarded CBEs.

Bullock said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled to receive this Honour. To spend my life doing something that I dearly love is a great privilege, and to be recognised in this way is not only very moving for me, but also wonderful for this fantastic art form which must be cherished at all costs.’

Janis Susskind, managing director of music publisher Boosey & Hawkes was awarded an OBE.

Amongst those who received MBEs for services to music were Martin Binks, conductor and artistic director of the Leeds Symphony Orchestra; Andrew Penny, conductor and music director of the Hull Philharmonic Orchestra; Martin Campbell-White, former Askonas Holt chief executive; and Marion Friend, director of the Junior Department at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.

John and Noretta Leech, cofounders of the Keyboard Charitable Trust, also received MBEs for services to Music and Young Musicians.
