Composer Eric Whitacre has released the sixth of his works for virtual choir, 'Sing Gently', which has been performed and released online, featuring 17,572 singers from 129 countries, aged between 5 and 88.

Participants have recorded their parts remotely and have been combined.

Whitacre wrote the work especially for the virtual choir during the coronavirus pandemic in an attempt to bring singers closer together during lockdown.

The work will be given its digital premiere on Sunday 19 July at 10.30am PT/6.30pm BST. It will be available to view via Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir YouTube channel.
