Glyndebourne’s final live cinema screening takes place this Sunday 10 August and it’s Tom Cairns’s elegant production of Verdi’s La traviata starring Venera Gimadieva as Violetta Valéry and Michael Fabiano as Alfredo Germont (both pictured above), and conducted by Mark Elder.
In anticipation of the screening, we have enjoyed listening to Glyndebourne’s podcast about the opera, which you can hear below. Find out why Verdi’s music so powerfully enhances the story of Violetta’s decline and why audiences and performers are drawn to the work time after time.
