Bach: Mass in B minor, BWV 232

Harry Christophers’s Mass in B minor with The Sixteen does not follow Joshua Rifkin’s minimalist one-to-a-part approach, preferring a more conventional disposition of chamber choir and five separate soloists. The result is as musically intelligent and invigorating a performance as we have come to expect from this ensemble, with first-rate solo singing and orchestral playing. Warmly recommended.
