Four decades ago, the Deller Consort and Musica Antiqua Wien were the pace-setters. US readers may warm to this four-disc Christmas reissue (a bargain at under $40; not yet available boxed in the UK). A few arrangements and pacings seem quirky, but the transfers are high quality. Deller’s fluted high countertenor (‘O little one sweet’, etc) remains an unsurpassed joy.
