Brahms/Beethoven/Mozart

This disc has much to commend it, with performances underpinned by the innate musicianship of Emanuel Ax and Yo-Yo Ma. Magical moments occur in abundance and, if you are one of the numerous admirers of Richard Stoltzman's inimitable clarinet playing, then you will find this a disc to treasure. Personally, I only found myself getting increasingly frustrated that Stoltzman's harsh, grainy and formulaic style was spoiling otherwise exquisite performances. Christopher Dingle
