Collection: Bach Family

This enterprising collection offers a rare chance to hear the Bach family’s music for two keyboard players on original harpsichords, clavichords and square pianos, all beautifully recorded by L’Oiseau-Lyre to interest even those who think early keyboards sound like the jangle of rusty bed springs. The playing is a touch hard-driven at times, and the opening movement of Bach père’s C major Concerto is heavily accented; but there’s no doubting the sparkling virtuosity here. Kate Bolton
