Collection: The Virtuoso Tradition

This debut disc from violinist Matthew Trusler celebrates the virtuoso tradition that stretches back to Tartini and which was made into a cult by that most consummate of showmen, Paganini. There is much to applaud here, including Paganini’s technically outlandish Moses Fantasy and Ysaÿe’s impressive Sixth Sonata, but the music can at times seem little more than a collection of tricks.
