Eschmann

Mendelssohn’s Swiss pupil Johann Carl Eschmann proves well worth rediscovering. His Quartet, although rather doggedly played here, has some very imaginative moments. The substantial horn suite and the free-flowing violin pieces deploy a Schumannesque language with confidence and charm. Anthony Burton
