Mendelssohn: Violin Sonata in F (1820 & 1838); Violin Sonata in F minor, Op. 4

The early F minor Sonata and the later F major (not published until 1953) are two of his most attractive chamber works, and these generous, intelligent performances show them to advantage. Good recordings too, helping the violin a little, but giving a reasonably realistic sound-picture. Stephen Johnson
