Pleyel: Octet in C; Trio in D, Op. 10/2; Trio concertant in E flat

Three genial works from Haydn’s talented pupil. Though rarely original, Pleyel was a fine craftsman – witness the Octet’s adroit Allegro molto and mellow Adagio, the pithy String Trio, the flowing, Mozartian Wind Trio. Klöcker’s affectionate 1974 performances still sound fresh. Graham Lock
