The Emma Kirkby Collection is released as one of Hyperion’s 20th Anniversary discs, in a special limited edition. It’s a wide-ranging recital of 18 items assembled from Kirkby’s previous recordings for the company. It should do wonders for sales, especially as the booklet helpfully supplies all the relevant information needed for tracking down the original disc. But, in its own right, this is an attractive release, not only for the almost unfailing charm with which Kirkby imbues the music but also as a record of how her voice has blossomed over a period of some two decades.
