Nigel North’s second disc in the Bach on the Lute series completes his transcriptions of the sonatas and partitas for solo violin, BWV 1001-6. Vol. 1 was awarded maximum stars in these pages, and this new disc matches its predecessor’s exemplary standards. North’s fluent touch brightens the partita’s French dances, and clarifies the sonatas’ graver counterpoints. Recommended. Graham Lock
