Gibbons: Anthems and Complete Organ Works

Sometime organist at both the Chapel Royal and Westminster Abbey, Orlando Gibbons completed some 35 choral anthems, in addition to a wide variety of keyboard, consort and ceremonial music. This superbly produced disc offers exemplary performances of seven of the full anthems, including the familiar eight-part setting ‘O clap your hands’. Robert Woolley also plays Gibbons’s complete Preludes and Fantasias on the Dallam organ of Ploujean, Brittany. An enjoyable and instructive issue, worthy of attentive listening. Michael Jameson
