Sigfrid Karg-Elert was a contemporary of Reger, and best known for his organ music, though he himself was principally a pianist. His Romantic, loose-limbed pieces need a warmer, more relaxed approach than Ernst Breidenbach brings to them, and the recording is thin and brittle. Adrian Jack
