Infinite Riches in a Little Room

As at home with John Dowland (whose Lachrymae provide the inspiration for half the music on this wholly absorbing album) as with Charlie Parker or Hermeto Pascoal, UK pianist Huw Warren demonstrates a commendably wide-ranging talent on this, his second solo outing on Babel.

By turns gently lyrical and pungently vigorous, but consistently original (his sparing use of electronics and the instrument’s insides is a striking feature of his music), Warren is one of Britain’s most accomplished pianists. CP
